CMC is owned and managed by Chris Turland, who has been a trainer/facilitator in Suffolk for many years.

He has spent 25 years in the care industry in East Anglia working with people with learning disabilities, people with mental health issues, looked after children and older people.

While working in the learning disability sector he worked with people using BSL, and was a sexual health and awareness trainer.  While working with older people he specialised in dementia care and reminiscence therapy.

He still has a role as a carer, nowadays focussing on Autism and Anger Management.

Owner and Lead Trainer

Certified by the Institute of Conflict Management

Chris has 25 years experience working in, and training people for, the care industry.  He has experience of working with children, teenagers and adults of all ages.

Using his skills as an Artist, he delivers therapy sessions in a variety of care settings

James Adams

Trainer

Certified by the NHS

James has 16 years experience as a Senior Emergency Medical Technician.  In his role as a training officer in the NHS he has taught life saving skills in a variety of situations

 

Situation Management for Hotel, Hospitality and Licensed Trade Staff

Running a Pub or Bar is a complex operation in an environment where alcohol is freely available.

For a Pub or Bar to function well, there has to be an atmosphere and environment where the customers and staff feel safe, relaxed and comfortable.

CMC has a long track record in training staff working in the hospitality iindustry in Ipswich, Suffolk and East Anglia, and we aim to supply the infomation to enable staff to make such a place a reality.

Unfortunately, however good your staff, occasionally violence occurs in licensed premises and it is important to have complete a thorough risk assessment beforehand.

Depending on your requirements, this course can be either a half day, full day or day and a half.  Courses are made up of a mixture of the course contents below, tailored to your specific situation.

Conflict Resolution

CMC Conflict Resolution courses are bespoke to meet individual client requirements Although we are based in Ipwich, we offer these course in locations around Suffolk and East Anglia

One Day

Max of 12 delegates (1 trainer) or 18 delegates (2 trainers)

No prior learning required

A mixture of theory and practical exercise to help create effective outcomes in managing conflict in the workplace

Conflict in the workplace always has a number of causes.  In this course, trainers discuss ideas about how to manage a difficult relationship with the another person in order to change the dynamic.  Even if you don’t always achieve your objective, you will be in a position to manage the outcome.

  • Understanding an individual’s natural response to Threat.

  • Managing a structured conversation.

  • Acknowledging the other person’s point of view.
  • Managing the effects of drugs, alcohol and mental illness etc. in conflict situations
  • Saying no effectively.

First Aid

Workplace First Aid Courses

CMC provides First Aid training for groups of up to 12 people in Ipswich and throughout Suffolk, East Anglia and the UK at our customer’s workplaces or at a suitable training venue.

CMC First Aid training courses combine theoretical knowledge, practical sessions and opportunities to practice.

Emergency First Aid at Work

1 day (6 hour) course

Certified (valid for 3 years)

This course is suitable for businesses where the risk assessment has identified a need for first aid provision in a low risk environment.

3 day (18 hour) course

Certified (valid for 3 years)

Ideal for most businesses where the risk assessment is medium to high, so have identified a requirement for fully-trained first aider/s.  This course is taught to the HSE recommended level.

Please note: Requalification is required after three years and is achieved by repeating this level of course.
